Grinding Onwards

Nothing much is happening for me at the moment in terms of revenue. I still only have 3 sites and am still working on my bar stools uk site. In the last week I started a PPC campaign and made some money but ultimately lost more than I made.

My Site Could Make Money If…

How many times have you heard that? When you throw together your site you do your quick calculations and work out how much commission you’ll make from your merchant and then try and guess how much traffic you’ll need to make X so you load up Google’s keyword tool to see how many searches a [...]

Make WordPress Really SEO Friendly

On the back of many previous posts about why my bar stools site isn’t ranking, I am really clamping down on how tight my WordPress Affiliate site is in terms of it’s SEO structure. This is a very useful (and important) guide for anyone who uses WordPress to power their sites.

6 Month Old Site Still Not Ranking

Many of you will know that my bar stools affiliate site is giving me a real run-around when it comes to its rankings in the SERPs. 4 days ago, I was on page #1, now I’m nowhere. I’m now going to explain what you need to do to get out of this situation if you’re [...]

How To Build An Email List

One of my three affiliate websites is receiving just over 6,000 unique visitors each month. After recent conversations on the Affiliates4U forum, a fellow affiliate advised me that when his site reaches 5,000 unique visitors per month, he starts to build an email list.

Blistering Start to the Month

A few things are contributing to an overall positive feeling this month. 1) I’m only 5 days in and already have £300 in revenue from my PPC site and 2) my infamous bar stools site has re-appeared in the SERPs and is now ranking #6 on Google.co.uk for its domain name.

1 Month Old Site Lost It’s High Rankings

I’m sure many of you reading this have started a new site in the last few months.  Now maybe your situation is different to mine but I’ve heard tales of this particular affliction hitting all fairly new sites after a short period.  My new affiliate site over at www.barstoolsuk.co.uk had in the last month been [...]

SEO for WordPress Sites

I have chosen to make my affiliate sites using WordPress – it’s free and infinitely scalable – which is just awesome.  I generally create them with custom themes that I have developed to suit each niche I’m working in.  Whilst doing this, I have come across three distinct wordpress-related problems regarding SEO but thankfully, they’re [...]

FAILED: Money Making Challenge 14/11/08

In November of 2008, I wrote a post on this blog about how I wanted to make $690 in 11 days.  I threw together a few ideas and actually did release a WordPress Theme but only actually managed to raise $190.  A whopping $500 short of my intended target.  It’s been almost a year since [...]

Can this offer be for real? On-topic, quality links just $3 in any niche!

I stumbled across a site today that I’d never come across before and was amazed at how easy they make building healthy backlinks for very little cost.  Backlinks can be discreetly bought in any number of ways such as footer links, blog posts, article posts or any other well-respected means of building backlinks on any [...]

What All The ‘Gurus’ Forgot And Why Wannabe Wannabe-Wannabe-Wannabes Will Always Be Wannabes

There’s been a lot of flapping lately.  If you can imagine the world of google in a hierarchical form, with google at the very top, then 4 or 5 Super Gurus on the tier below, then 10 times as many guru wannabes on the tier below and then another tier of guru wannabe wanabees below [...]

What Does Google SearchWiki Mean For Your Site?

I’ve just done a search for one of my many sites and spotted a new googleism in the SERPS.  The ability to ‘promote’ or ‘delete’ a result from the results pages!  Admittedly, it is customised for my preferences, using my google ID as the epicentre, but is an interesting move towards user-generated content, pulling the [...]

Can I Make £460 in 11 Days?

OK, so it’s the credit crunch here in the UK.  I have an exploding credit card bill and I need to pay £460 by the 28th November 2008.  The strength of the £ to the $ at the moment is weak, which is good news if I’m working in $s, and it means I need [...]

Want Business Success? Just play golf!

I haven't been playing long and spend more time in the rough, dropping balls and taking free hits than actually playing well but...one thing's for sure, if I had to recommend a great place to network with other likeminded business people, it would be on the golf course.
